Inventory Specialist/Material Handler

The Inventory Specialist must be a well-organized individual with superior customer service skills and works well with little to no supervision. Must have the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interact closely and work with all levels of inner company personnel.

Assist in all inventory and stockroom functions: file and maintain clerical responsibilities, receive incoming parts/material while checking against purchase orders for accuracy, put stock inventory away, issue, and ship material as needed in the warehouse.

Guarantee accuracy of inventory information and make adjustments to inventory records based on physical verification and computer research. Help to assure proper invoice payment through appropriate interaction between purchasing, accounts payable, and company personnel.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Load, unload, sort, stage and transport product within facility
  • Responsible for reading vendor-packing slips, carrier shipping documents, UPS/Federal Express labels, and company receiving documents
  • Compare stock numbers and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing inventory
  • Check quality of incoming components as they arrive from our vendors
  • Add, subtract, and calculate quantities of merchandise
  • Enter receiving and shipping information into the Great Plains computer system
  • Perform physical cycle counts
  • Verify inventory requests, analyzing data as well as editing and verifying replenishment paths
  • Make all inventory adjustments in the system on a daily basis regarding warehouse use, offsetting counts, etc.
  • Track delivery dates and shipment details of purchase orders
  • Package, label, and ship customer orders
  • Oversee and maintain product files for assigned area
  • Maintain a clean and functioning work area
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed
  • Follow all company policy and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essential Skills/Minimum Qualifications

Mathematical & computer skills
Inventory experience ability to consistently lift up to 50 lbs
Great attention to detail
Analytical/Problem solving skills

Education and Experience

HS Diploma or GED required.  
Generally, 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility or related field.
Great Plains experience a plus.
